Bread is something that most people never make. I’m not sure why it is incredibly easy to make palatable bread. It is a little harder to make delicious bread. Allowing the bread to rest and rise is the most vital step for good results, don’t skimp on time because you are in a hurry, it won’t turn out how you want at all. There is some science going on with the yeast and sugar that is super interesting when you allow it to rise.
Ingredients List
1 1/2 Cup Bread Flour
1 1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour
1 Tbsp Salt
1 packet Yeast
1/4 Cup Olive Oil
1 Cup Hot Water
1 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
Preparation
Put 1/4 cup warm water mix with a pinch of sugar and yeast and mix well allow for bubbles to start forming. (This means the yeast is working)
Use bread hook in mixer or food processor to mix all dry ingredients with a few quick pulses.
While on slowly add hot water, oil, yeast mixture
Allow to rise for one hour covered with a towel in a floured bowl.
Form hoagie sticks
Allow to rise for an additional hour on a flour covered cookie sheet
Once risen put a few slices in top to add some dimension to the bread.
Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with corn meal and flaky salt
Put on pizza stone with pizza paddle covered in corn meal
Allow to bake til it looks done, most likely around 20-30 minutes. Larger loaves will take mere time. (You will know good bread when you see it. Think nice golden brown color. make sure it’s not still squishy as it may brown early)
That is basically what the steps will will look like, lastly you let it cool down and package up if your not gonna use it immediately. I like to wrap it in wax paper.
